Preparation andCharacterization of Electrospun Poly(styrene-divinylbenzene) Fibers as a Carbon Fiber Precursor |

In this work, the poly(styrene-divinylbenzene) fibers were prepared for using precursor of carbon fibers. The poly(styrene-divinylbenzene) was obtained by solution polymerization and the fibers were prepared by electrospinning method. The morphological characteristics and average diameter of the fibers was confirmed by SEM. The thermal properties of the fibers were investigated by TGA and DSC. As a result, the fibers with diameter ranging from 700 nm to 1500 nm were obtained and the Tg of the fibers increased with increasing the DVB contents. It was also found that the carbonization temperature has a dominant effect on the degree of crystallinity of the resulting carbon fibers. |
