Several drug delivery researches related to crystallization are under active development such as co-crystal formulations, different polymorphs, amorphous phase formation and reduction of crystal size. One of the main aims of those researches is to enhance the dissolution rate of drug. Herein, we investigated the crystallization of atorvastatin for the therapy of blood vessels in heart in presence of modified pectins and hyaluronic acids, which were grafted with rutin (antioxidant). We used the drowning-out crystallization of atorvastatin with maintaining the modified polymer environment. In the combination of modified pectin and the drug, melting point was significantly decreased by 30~50 ℃ and showed different pattern of X-ray diffraction compared to that of pure atorvastatin. Our crystallization method using the solutions of natural polymer and drug might open-up a new possibility of drug delivery. |
