Nano-silica powder is an inorganic material to give high-performance in various fields because of multi-functional. In order to synthesize high purity nano-silica, there are some methods which are crushing of silica minerals, the vapor reaction of the silica chloride, and sol-gel process using TEOS and sodium silicate solution. Sol-Gel process using sodium silicate solution is the cheapest method for synthesis of nano-silica powder. In this study, nano-silica powder was synthesized using sodium silicate solution. First, we investigated the shape and the size of silica powder with the variation of HCl and sodium silicate concentration. After drying, the shape of nano-silica powder was different by variation of HCl concentration. The pH of the solution increases, the density of crosslinking is increased. To increase purity of nano-silica powder, we used washing process such as centrifugation and filtration method. Before washing, there were NaCl and amorphous silica. After washing, NaCl clearly removed from nano-silica powder by DI water. The purity of nano-silica powder synthesized using sodium silicate is over 99.6%. |
