Synthesis and properties of ETFE-g-VBTAC/HEMA for capacitive deionization (CDI) process by 60Co gamma irradiation |
초록 |
The simultaneous irradiation of γ-ray is an effective method for graft polymerization due to its penetrability into the inside of the film. VBTAC (Vinyl benzyl trimethyl ammonium chloride) was grafted onto ETFE (Ethylene tetrafluoroethylene) film by the simultaneous irradiation of γ-ray in the presence of HEMA (2-hydroxyl ethyl methacrylate). The structures of ETFE and ETFE-g-VBTAC/HEMA were confirmed by FT-IR (Fourier transform infrared) spectroscopy. The peaks of ETFE-g-VBTAC/HEMA membrane were assigned 1726 cm-1 and 842 cm-1 to the COO- group of HEMA and p-disubstituted benzene of VBTAC, respectively. The properties of ETFE-g-VBTAC/HEMA such as degree of grafting, water uptakes and IEC (Ion exchange capacity) were also investigated. The degree of grafting increased as the irradiation dose increased, resulting in changes in the IEC. |
