Direct Ethanol Fuel Cells (DEFCs) have attracted for portable energy sources since ethanol has no toxicity and high power density (6.34 kWhL-1). However, the kinetics of the ethanol oxidation is slower than methanol and formic acid. In order to improve the ethanol oxidation kinetics, Pd, Rh and Pt alloys catalysts have been used. In this work, we fabricated the Pd-Ni (core-shell) nanostructure by Pd electrodeposition on Ni nanowire arrays using porous alumina template. The characteristic of catalyst was analyzed by SEM, EDX and XRD. The electrocatalytic activity of ethanol oxidation was measured using linear sweep voltammetry in alkaline media. |
