Synthesis of PMMA/SiO2 core-shell particles with different size for Electrophoretic Display |

Dispersion polymerization is a very simple and attractive method for preparing micron-size monodispersed polymeric microspheres. Also, micron-sized and monodispersed polymeric particles can be applied in the field of electronics.. In this study, we tried to control reaction time in order to change the size of polymeric particles. All polymerization reactions were carried out at 55 ℃. The morphology of PMMA/SiO2 particles was observed via optical microscope and scattering electronic microscope (SEM) respectively. TGA was used for examining chemical composition and thermal stability of the composite particles. Electrophoretic mobility of the fabricated composite particles with controlled size in a low dielectric medium with changing the charge of polymeric particles was examined by electrophoretic light scattering spectrophotometer for potential application in electronic paper device. |
