제목 Targeted Delivery of Endothelial Progenitor Cells using Biodegradable Scaffold enhances the neovascularization in skin
초록 Endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) act as endothelial precursors that promote new blood vessel formation, and increase angiogenesis by secreting growth factors and cytokines in ischemic tissues. However, their engraftment into host vasculature has been estimated to be rare due to the lack of efficient cell delivery system. These facts prompt the hypothesis that targeted delivery of EPC using biodegradable scaffold might improve the vascular engraftment of EPC and subsequently enhance the neovasculariation. When EPC-preseeded biodegradable scaffolds were implanted into the cutaneous wound site, they significantly enhanced the vascular engraftment of EPC and improved the dermal neovascularization as compared with intradermal injection of EPC around wound sites.
