A series polypeptide bearing hybrid block copolymer, with p(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate)-b-poly(L-tyrosine) [p(HEMA)100-b-p(L-tyrosine)n] (n = 50, 75, 100, 150) were synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization of HEMA, ring opening polymerization of L-tyrosine N-carboxyanhydride and azide-alkyne click cycloaddition reactions. The resulting block copolymers were characterized by various spectroscopic techniques, and further modified with 4-(Bromomethyl) phenyl boronic acid (PBA) by successful grafting in the hydroxyl group of p(HEMA) for a glucose sensing response. The PBA grafted block copolymers were used to fabricate thin films in the quartz plate, with alizarin red (ARS) that doesn’t emit fluorescence in the presence of PBA. It was found that the release of ARS from the thin film fabricated is faster in presence of glucose were termed as a dye displacement assay, which is sensing glucose. |
