Dimethyl carbonate (DMC) is usually synthesized from CO, methanol, and O2. High-purity DMC, CO2, and water are the reaction products. In this process, when DMC reacts with phenol and bisphenol A by trans-esterification, Methylphenylcarbonate (MPC), DPC methanol to be produced. This newly developed DPC synthesis process is considered to be a “green process” because it does not use phosgene, a highly toxic environmental pollutant. In this work, the ternary liquid-liquid equilibrium (LLE) data are reported for the system {water + methanol + DMC} at 308.15K and {water + methanol + phenol} at 333.15K. The experimental LLE data has been correlated by using GE model: the non-random two-liquid (NRTL) model. Excess molar volume (VE) and deviations in molar refractivity (∆R) at 298.15 K are reported for the binary systems: {DMC+Methanol}. The determined VE and ∆R were correlated with the Redlich–Kister equation. |
