Enhanced Photocatalytic Activities of Ga2O3 Based Nanocomposites and their Applications for Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Control |
초록 |
Photocatalytic oxidation of volatile organic compounds (VOC) by oxide semiconductor based nanocomposites are demonstrated its feasibility to remove toxic VOCs and formaldehyde from indoor environment. Recently, electron acceptor incorporated semiconductor photocatalysts have attracted more attention because of their enhanced photocatalytic activity caused by interfacial charge transfer (IFCT). Types of β-Ga2O3 based nanocomposites, Ga2O3-graphene (Ga2O3-GR) and Ag nanoparticle decorated Ga2O3 (Ag@Ga2O3) were prepared utilizing combined processing of hydrothermal synthesis and wet chemical process. We show that such nanocomposites exhibit relatively higher photocatalytic activities and stability than bare Ga2O3 particles toward the gas-phase degradation of volatile organic pollutants in air. For both cases of Ga2O3-GR and Ag@Ga2O3, the electron acceptor content exhibited an obvious influence on photocatalytic activity and the optimal addition content and configuration were suggested. The essence of the enhanced photocatalytic activity is believed to be the function of the graphene and silver nanoparticles as excellent electron acceptors and transporters, thus reducing the recombination of charge carriers and enhancing the photocatalytic activity. In addition, the key features for composites including enhancement of adsorptivity of pollutants, light absorption intensity, electron−hole pairs lifetime, and extended light absorption range have also been discussed. |
