Mechanical properties of metal coated glass fiber/zinc oxide composites with antimicrobial activities |
초록 |
In the present study a comparison of two different surface pre-treatments and their influence on a subsequent surface metallization were studied. Glass fibers (GF) have the excellent properties and low price compared with carbon fiber. Metallized glass fibers (MGF) were fabricated by coating copper on the surface using electroless plating and the effects of antimicrobial and mechanical on the properties of copper coated glass fibers were discussed. The antimicrobial activities of composites were compared with those of glass fibers reinforced composites (MGFP) and pre-treated glass fiber reinforced composites, respectively. Also, the mechanical properties of MGFP were compared with carbon fibers-reinforced composites. The results shows that copper coated glass fiber have good antimicrobial and mechanical properties. The antimicrobial of polymer composites comprising MGF was higher than that of the acid treated GF composites because of the disinfecting ability of copper. |
