Preparation of glucose responsive block copolymer carrying phenylboronic acid moiety |

We successfully synthesized water-soluble block copolymers exhibiting glucose-sensitive phase behavior using poly(ethylene oxide)-based macroinitiator via atom transfer radical polymerization. First, we carried out living anionic ring-opening of ethylene oxide in mixture of benzene and dimethyl sulfoxide using n-butyllithium and tert-butoxide as the initiating system. PEO-based macroinitiator was synthesized by chain-end functionalization of polymeric alkoxide using 2-bromoisobutyryl bromide under the high vacuum. Then glucose responsive copolymer was prepared by controlled radical polymerization of methacryl(amido phenyl boronic acid) and the Cu(Ⅰ)Br/Me6TREN catalytic system in DMF. In this presentation, we will report the preliminary results. |
