Au-Embedded WO3 Porous Nanowire Structure: Fabrication and characterization |

We developed a method to fabricate Au-embedded porous WO3 nanowire structures for application to methane gas sensing. Methane is a highly flammable gas that explodes in the air when reacting with other pollutants. The explosive limit of methane gas is 5%. However, detection of lower concentrations is necessary for prevention and warning purposes in a leaking system. Highly porous single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) were used as the template to fabricate WO3 nanowire structure. Au particles were decorated by dipping the W nanowire structure in HAuCl4 solution followed by oxidation. The structural and gas sensing properties of the fabricated nano structures were measured using XRD, HRTEM, photoluminescence, and current-voltage measurements. The methane sensing properties were also investigated. |
