Synthesis and Characterization of an Urea Imidazolium Iodide for Application of Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells |

Novel ionic liquids series of based on urea imidazolium iodide named as URII-(BM(1), BP(1), HM(1), HP(1), HM(2), HP(2)) were synthesized and used as electrolytes in dye-sensitized solar cells. The synthesized series of based on urea imidazolium iodide was viscous liquid. These electrolytes have characteristics of an intra- or inter molecular hydrogen bonding interaction through its urea bonds. In series of based on urea imidazolium iodide, N-H peaks of amide were posited at δ 5.8-5.9ppm and metyl peaks of URII-(BM(1), HM(1), HM(2)) and propyl peaks of URII-(BP(1), HP(1), HP(2)) were observed at δ 3.8-3.9 ppm and δ 1.2-1.4ppm respectively. In TGA analysis, the first weight loss at about 240 °C was attributed to the elimination of amino group. Thermal stability increased diisocyanate than isocyanate. |
