Crystallization behavior and thermal properties of Poly(ethylene terephthalate)/ Calcium carbonate / Clay hybrid composites |

In our previous works, PET-clay nanocomposites were invested in order to improve heat distortion temperature (HDT) of PET bottles. HDT of PET/clay composites was improved through introducing clay in PET, but transparency of composites was significantly decreased due to irregular crystallization. In this work, we tried to introduce novel PET/clay/CaCO3(calcium carbonate) system to improve both HDT and transparency of composites. PET/clay/CaCO3 composites were prepared by twin extruder. Effects of introducing CaCO3 into PET/clay system on crystallization behavior were invested by DSC. HDT and thermal stability were characterized by TMA and TGA. |
