Lignocellulosic materials were composed of high molecular weight compounds such as cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin. In this study, cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin were treated by replacing highly toxic organic solvents with ionic liquids such as 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride, N-butyl-N-methylmorpholinium chloride, 1-butyl-1-methylpiperidium chloride, and 1,3-Dimethylimidazolium methylphosphite. The biomass treated with the ionic liquids is characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis. The results of this study will be of high value in broadening the field of application of biomass by providing the necessary physical properties to utilize biomass.
