제목 Photoredox Catalytic Transformation of Organic Molecules Mediated by Phosphorescent Transition Metal Complexes
초록 Photoredox catalysis is the promising complement to traditional protocols for organic transformations. Execution of the photoredox catalysis requires photoactive compounds with high electrochemical stability at large driving force for photoinduced intermolecular electron transfer. Phosphorescent complexes of Ir(III) and Pt(II) best meet these criteria, due to strong cyclometalation in the chelation structures. We have investigated capability of a series of Ir(III) complexes for mediating photoredox catalytic production of carbazoles from 2-aminobiaryls. Excited-state processes in the catalytic cycle have been investigated using transient spectroscopic and electrochemical techniques. We also explored catalytic utility of cyclometalated Pt(II) complexes in trifluoromethylation of non-prefunctionalized alkenes and heterocycles. Spectroscopic investigations were performed, which revealed the nature of initial electron transfer and competing back-electron transfer.
