제목 Surface engineering of AgNW with multiple ligands for highly conductive and stretchable nanocomposite
초록 Stretchable metallic nanocomposites based on silver nanowires offer a viable material candidate for stretchable conductors due to their high conductivity. However, obtaining the nanocomposite which satisfies high stretchability, in addition to outstanding conductivity, is challenging because the nanowires are easily cracked and their percolation networks are vulnerable under external strains. Here we present a material strategy for surface engineering of nanowires using multiple ligands to attain these requirements in nanocomposites. We modified the surface of silver nanowires with 1-alkanethiols with a different length such as 1-octadecanethiol, 1-decanethiol, and 1-propanethiol. We observed distinct effects of the ligands depending on their lengths. The long ligands make the nanowire network stable in a strained elastomeric matrix, increasing stretchability. Meanwhile, the short ligands are beneficial to detaching residual physically absorbed ligands, resulting in reduced contact resistance and high conductivity of the nanocomposite. Therefore, adopting the optimized combination of each ligand on nanowires leads to exceptional conductivity and stretchability of the nanocomposite.
