Effect of Mixing Sequence on Visco-elastic Properties of Silica and Carbon Black Filled NR Compounds |

The effect of mixing sequence by replacing carbon black with silica was considered in banbury mixer. Experiments were performed under various processing conditions as changing the loading time of reinforcing material during mixing sequence. Several recipes of NR with various ratio of silica and carbon black are utilized. Rheological and mechanical properties of filled rubber at various mixing sequence as well as dynamic properties were studied and compared with those of carbon black filled rubber. The viscosity under different mixing sequence depends on the shear rate range. The viscosity of filled compound slightly increased with an increase of silica at low shear rate. But at high shear rate range the viscosity of filled rubber does not effect in loading time of carbon black. There is an essential difference of mechanical properties between loading time of mixture. The modulus of compound with loading time of carbon black at 30 seconds to a certain point is higher than that of other one. After then, it continuously is lower than that of other compound with loading time of carbon black at 120 seconds. The effect of mixing sequence in dynamic properties shows little difference. As respect to rolling resistance, the samples with loading time of black at 120 seconds are more effective than that of other one. |
