제목 trans-Esterification of vegetable oil using short chain alcohols
초록 Biodiesel is an alternative fuel for diesel engines. It is produced by trans-esterification of canola oil. Also, Biodiesel has similar properties to petro diesel, while significantly lower emissions of pollutants in diesel vehicles. Especially the vegetable oil as an ingredient in maintaining biodiesel such as canola oil has been spotlighted as a new fuel source. In this study, in order to investigate the optimum conditions, we produced biodiesel using methanol, ethanol, propanol and butanol. This experiment was performed in some variables which are temperature (45~95℃), alcohol/oil mole ratio (3~12 : 1), and reaction time(60~100min). The produced biodiesel were estimated by BD yield, fatty acid alkyl ester content, kinematic viscosity and higher heating value.
