Herein, a simple and controllable cobalt oxide nanohorn electrode materials, which have been successfully synthesized through a solvothermal process followed by calcination at different temperatures. The nanohorns-like structure of cobalt oxide synthesized through template or surfactant free methods. The particle sizes and defects of the as-obtained cobalt oxide nanohorns were controlled with respect to calcining temperatures, while preserving the horn-like morphology. In particular, the cobalt oxide nanohorn electrodes prepared at lower temperature reveal the superior electrochemical performance, which is greater than those of materials obtained at higher temperature. In order to expand the potential window, a hybrid supercapacitor was configured with the cobalt oxide nanohorn and activated carbon used as positive and negative electrodes, respectively. The configured hybrid supercapacitor exhibited the high specific capacitance and good rate capability. |
