Influence of Silica Nanotubes on Drug Release Behaviors of PCL Microcapsules including Indomethacin |

In this work, biodegradable poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) microcapsules containing indomethacin adsorbed silica nanotubes (S-NTs) were prepared by a solvent evaporation method. The drug release behaviors of PCL microcapsules were dependent on S-NT contents and S-NTs were used as a drug adsorbent for the controlled and sustained drug release. The morphologies and particle size of PCL microcapsules were characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM). The degree of drug release from the microcapsules was calculated using a UV-vis spectroscopy. As a result, the average particle size of the microcapsules decreased with increasing the stirring rate. The drug release rate from the microcapsules was decreased with increasing the S-NT contents. |
