Effect of CNT functionality on salt rejection of membrane for desalination and expected potential of CNT increasing water flux |
초록 |
CNTs were functionalized in different condition with strong acid and polyamide reverse osmosis (RO) membrane was prepared by interfacial polymerization with/without pristine/functionalized CNT (PA membrane/PA-CNT membrane). Interface interaction forces between polyamide and CNT were measured and correlation between salt rejection values and the interaction forces were studied. Moreover, the PA-CNT membranes exhibited increased water flux compared with polyamide membrane without CNT (PA membrane) maintaining salt rejection. The high flux of PA-CNT membranes was ascribed to the hydrophobic nano-channel of CNT and increase of mechanical properties of the membranes. |
