High Efficiency Colloidal Quantum Dot Photovoltaic Devices through Improved Charge Extraction |

Colloidal Quantum Dot (CQD) have emerged as a promising photoactive material due to low production cost and solution processability. Recent advances in understanding the properties of CQDs and the operation issues improved the performance of CQD based photovoltaic devices (CQDPVs). In this work, room temperature solution-processed high-efficiency CQDPVs are developed by improving charge extraction properties at p-n heterojunctions. A unique conjugated polyelectrolyte, WPF-6-oxy-F, is used as an interface modification layer for ZnO/PbS-CQD heterojunctions. All of the device parameters are improved as a result of the enhanced built-in potential and the reduced interfacial charge recombination at the heterojunction. Finally, CQD photovoltaic devices with a power conversion efficiency of 9% are achievable, even by a solution process at room temperature in an air atmosphere. |
