ITO-free Organic Solar Cells Using PEDOT:PSS Doped with Silver Nanoparticles |

Transparent electrodes have been investigated to replace the indium-tin-oxide (ITO) in polymer solar cells because of their high-cost and rigid substrate. Highly conductive PEDOT:PSS films doped with a high boiling-point solvent such as DMSO or NMP have been extensively exploited. We simply synthesized silver nanoparticles(Ag NPs) and made a highly conducting polymer anode by modifying the PEDOT:PSS films with 5% Ag NPs (modified-PEDOT). Then, we fabricated polymer solar cells using the modified-PEDOT film as an anode and evaluated the device performance. The control device with NMP showed a short circuit current (Jsc) of 7.36mA/cm2, an open circuit voltage (Voc) of 0.52V, fill factor (FF) of 0.35, and an overall efficiency (η) of 1.33%. Consequently, the device with the modified-PEDOT showed Jsc of 8.16mA/cm2, Voc of 0.53V, FF of 0.42 and η of 1.80%, which was attributed to enhanced conductivity of the modified-PEDOT anode by the excellent electrical conductivity of the Ag NPs. |
