There are many attempts to make thin crystal films with lyotropic chromonic liquid crystals (LCLCs) through molecular self-assembly. Since the self-assembly of LCLCs was commonly observed in polar solvent, thin crystal films were fabricated by coating a LCLC aqueous solution. However, these thin crystal films showed weak moisture and scratch resistance. In order to improve these shortcomings, we have tried to make a stable LCLC composite film by adding a reactive monomer. Considering our previous work, LCLC composite films made with V20 and acrylate monomer showed improved pencil hardness. In this study, we tried to optimize the stability and polarization efficiency of V20 composite films by controlling the acrylate monomer content and coating method. In addition, we will figure out major factors affecting the film stability and polarization efficiency. |
