In this stone bed research, reduced weight and enhanced heat transferring stability were studied. Reduced thickness of stone can make possible to lighten the total weight. Stone/wood board could be good combination materials. Good adhesion surface can be needed to transfer the heat stably at stone/wood interface. Wood lamina was heat treated to avoid the distortion of wood and to remove moisture. Four different heat treatment conditions for wood were tried at 60, 100, 130 and 160oC. Mechanical properties of heat treated wood were evaluated with surface energy for different heat treated temperatures. Amine-type epoxy adhesive was used between stone and wood. Lap shear test was also investigated to measure interfacial adhesion between stone and wood with heat treated wood conditions.
