제목 Purification and Characterization of a 3.6-anhydro-galactose dehydrogenase from Raoultella ornithinolytica B6
초록 Marine biomass including macroalgae has been evaluated as the third generation biomass for biorefinery. Especially, red algal biomass has been considered one of the promising alternatives for ethanol production due to the highest total carbohydrate contents among macroaglae species. It mainly consists of a recalcitrant agar polysaccharide composed of agarose. The agarose is alternately bonded by α-1,3 and β-1,4 linkage group between two monosugars such as D-galactose and 3,6-anhydro-L-galactose. Despite an increasing demand of red algal biomass, biological conversion of red algal biomass has been limited by lack of feasible microorganisms which can convert structured AHG into a common metabolite. To improve biomass conversion, we isolate novel AHG dehydrogenase(AHGD) producing bacteria and purify AHGD enzyme produced by isolated strain. Further studies regarding stability and compatibility of the enzyme with various conditions were also conducted to achieve high enzyme production.
