Aluminosilicate fibers have great potential for industrial applications. Understanding their melt rheological properties can help to find out the conditions for melt spinning process and expect fiber properties. This study analyzed the correlation between chemical compositions and high temperature rheological properties, and their influence on fiber properties. The rheological properties of aluminosilicate melts at 800-1450 °C are provided. It is confirmed that the viscosities of melts significantly depends on the basicity of the compositions, while no strong correlation with the given chemical compositions and elasticity of melts was observed. For viscoelasticity–fiber property, it is observed that elastic moduli of fibers were proportional to the reciprocal of shear moduli of the melts at the solid-liquid transient temperature. The shear resistance of the melts is expected to influence the recovery of quenched melt while spun, and thus impacts the fiber tensile property. |
