Porous Tungsten Oxide Nanowire: Fabrication on Single Wall Carbon Nanotube Templates and Application for Gas Sensor |

The tungsten oxide nanowire structure is fabricated by deposition and thermal oxidation of tungsten metal on porous single wall carbon nanotubes (SWNTs). The effects of oxidation temperature on the morphology and crystalline quality of materials are investigated by SEM, XRD, EDS and Raman analysis. The results prove that WO3 nanowire structure fabricated on SWNTs show highly porous structures; nanowires oxidized at the relatively low temperature of 400oC form a composite of SWNTs. High purity and crystalline quality of WO3 nanowires are obtained at higher oxidizing temperature. Exposure of the sensors to NO gas in the temperature range of 100–300oC resulted in the highest sensitivity at 200oC. The influence of tungsten depositing time on the sensitivity of sensor was also investigated in this work. |
