제목 | Solubilization of Carbon Nanotubes and Polymer-based CNT Nanocomposite |
초록 | Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have attracted an enormous attention over the past decade because of their unique electronic, thermal, optical, and mechanical properties. These unique properties of carbon nanotubes offer a number of potentially exciting applications such for field emission display device. One of the primary obstacles in those applications is that carbon nanotubes form aggregates in nearly all solvent systems due to the substantial van der Waals attractions between tubes. To prevent this undesirable CNTs aggregation, various surfactants have been used for the dispersion of CNTs. In this study, amphiphilic T-shaped oligothiophene-g-PEG copolymer is used as a polymeric surfactant for the solubilization of nanotubes. The solubilization of nanotubes by the thiophene-PEG surfactant was analyzed by using TEM, TGA, Raman and UV-vis spectroscopy. In our T-shaped copolymer, oligothiophene is a conjugated material which possesses interesting electrical and optical properties due to their unique delocalized electron systems. Therefore, it is expected that carbon nanotubes solubilized by these oligothiophenes exhibit distinct electrical and optical behaviors of the thiophene-based CNT nanocomposites. The electrical and optical behaviors of the prepared thiophene-based CNT nanocomposites is measured by the four-point probe method and transmittance spectrum, and compared to that of polyaniline/CNT composite. |
