Influence of Gamma-ray Irradiation on the Calcium Phosphate Coating of the PLGA film for Bone Tissue Engineering |

Calcium phosphate ceramics such as hydroxyapatite and tricalcium phosphate are widely used bone regeneration because of their similar mineral composition with the natural bone and teeth. Moreover, they have excellent osteoconductivity and poor mechanical properties. Poly(L-lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) has biocompatible, biodegradable, and non-toxic properties. Moreover, it can easily be manipulated. As these reasons, we carried out calcium phosphate coating on the PLGA film through SBFx5 solution which contains similar ionic constituents to human blood plasma. PLGA film was fabricated using casting method. And the film was irradiated gamma-ray of different dose in air condition. After irradiation, the film was immersed in SBFx5 solution for different time interval. A coated film was washed carefully and then freeze-dried. The crystal structure and morphology of the coated film were characterized using XRD and FE-SEM techniques. |
