제목 Adsorption of phosphates using various adsorbents
초록 High concentrations of phosphate present in wastewater are one of the main reasons of eutrophication. In last few decades there are many attempts to remove the phosphate from wastewater to reduce its concentration below allowable levels for environmental protection. The adsorption techniques have been known as a promising method to enhance the removal capability of the phosphate compared to other wastewater treatment methods.  
The objective of this work is to select proper adsorbents for removing phosphates from water and wastewater. For this purpose, the various adsorbents including activated carbon, MCM-48, SBA-15, pumice, and chitosan have been assessed by conducting equilibrium experiments. The adsorption characteristics of phosphate are evaluated in terms of initial concentration, contact time, and temperature. Adsorption equilibrium data of phosphate were well explained by Langmuir isotherm and Freundlich isotherm models.
