Photo-sensitive microspheres were prepared by Gelatin-cinnamic acid coating alginate. First alginate microspheres were prepared using the emulsion method. Then cinnamic acid was conjugated to gelatin due to the electronic interaction between the carboxy group of cinnamic acid and the amine group of gelatin. By determining the zeta potential using the dynamic light scattering technique, we got to know that the charge in the surface was highest at pH3 which is about +30mV. And then these two were mixed together to coacervate. As shown in the EDS,alginate was successfully coated with gelatin-cinnamic acid. Due to the microscope photograph and SEM, the obtained coating microspheres were spherical shaped and the mean size were 35µm. Due to the dimerization of cinnamic acids under the UV irradiation (λ=365 nm)and dedimerization at 265 nm,the trapped guest molecules could be typically released from this microsphere swhich demonstrates great potential photo-sensitive in drug delivery systems. |
