Hydrogen is abundant and is noted as a future energy source with eco-friendly, storage and transportability, and flexibility in production and consumption. Among the technologies of producing hydrogen through pure water using electrical energy, polymer electrolyte membrane water electrolysis (PEMWE) indicates high hydrogen production efficiency using hydrogen ion as an ion conductor. Currently, perfluorosulfonic acid (PFSA) is used as PEM, but it is problematic in gas permeability, low Tg, and cost. The aromatic hydrocarbon polymer is being studied as an alternative because it allows structural design and property control in various forms, and is capable of production at low cost. In this study, we synthesized a novel poly(p-phenylene)-based multiblock copolymer, and measured the physical and chemical properties of the polymer with various measurements. |
