Polybenzimidazole is the most thermally stable engineering plastics and is often used as a fire fighting material or a conductive film for energy devices. Due to the unique benzimidazole structure, it has good mechanical properties, but there is also disadvantage that the glass transition temperature is formed near 400 ° C, resulting in very poor prcessability. In order to solve this shortcoming, the modification was attempted to introduce ether bonds, which are flexible structure, to the basic unit of polybenzimidazole. As a result, it has been tried to synthesize the polybenzimidazole form with lower glass transition temperature while maintaining the physical properties of the basic polymer. |
