제목 Novel Foams Prepared by Solvent Melt Crystallization
초록 Engineering pores in polymeric materials is critical in many applications such as tissue engineering, separation, energy generation, and drug release. Porous polymeric materials have been typically prepared through complex processes such as thermally induced phase separation (TIPS), mechanical deformation, microfabrication, electrochemical fabrication, and lithography. Directional freezing is a simple method to produce aligned porous materials in the form of 2D patterns in water-soluble polymers. Weak mechanical properties of freeze-dried films can be reinforced by incorporation of inorganic particles and fibers. Herein, we showed that directional melt crystallization of solvent is a simple and flexible method applicable to a range of materials (polymer colloidal dispersions and polymer mixture solutions). Controlling the pore morphology of films by directional melt crystallization offers a versatile route to prepare unique porous polymer and composite membranes.
