Several transition metals, such as copper, silver, chrome, and nickel were introduced on the surfaces of porous carbon fibers in order to investigate the effects of these metals on hydrogen storage properties of metal/carbons. The metals were dispersed on carbon surface by an electroplating as a function of plating time. The pore structure was analyzed by N2/77K adsorption isotherms. Specific surface areas and total pore volumes were measured by BET and D-R equations, respectively. The microstructure of metal/carbons was characterized by XRD and SEM. The hydrogen storage behaviors of metal/carbons were studied by using PCT apparatus at moderate pressure and temperature. |
