Densification of Sealing Frit in Air and High Vacuum for Plasma Display Panel |

Sealing materials are required of the low porosity due to the high performance. During the firing process, frits can produce bubbles. For lowering the number and size of pores of sealing glass in PDP, we have tested the sealing glass in air and high vacuum. In this study, frits consisting of a major composition of PbO, SiO2, ZnO and B2O3 were heat-treated with two steps: pre-firing and real-firing in air and high vacuum. The glass transition temperature and Littleton softening temperature of frit were 410℃ and 472℃, respectively. The surface tension of glass was detected by HSM (hot stage microscopy) on PD200 substrate. The fired frits were observed by SEM. Our research aim is to understand the densification of frits in two different atmospheres, air and high vacuum. |
