In this study, silk was degummed with various degumming conditions and the structural characteristics and rheological properties of silk with different degumming ratios were investigated to evaluate the exact sericin content in raw silk. FTIR was used to examine the conformation of silk as well as crystallinity index. Rheometer was also utilized to rheological properties of silk formic acid solutions. The crystallinity index of degummed silk was increased and the shear viscosity of silk solution was decreased, as the degumming ratio of silk was increased. Finally, the relationships between crystallinity index, rheological properties, and degumming ratio was used to determine the exact sericin content in silk. |
