Polymer optoelectronic devices have drawn attention because of their advantages of light weight, easy large-area fabrication, and low fabrication cost by the solution process. To improve the performance of devices, many researches have been carried out including synthesis of materials, fabrication processes and interfacial engineering. Among them, the interfacial engineering is one of the important strategies. In this work, we showed that by using a poly(sodium 4-styrenesulfonate) (PSS-Na) as an electron transporting layer(ETL), the performances of polymer solar cells and polymer light-emitting diodes were improved. A thin layer of PSS-Na reduces the work function of metal and electrical contact resistance. It is possibly due to the dipoles generated between the active layer (emitting layer) and the metal cathode. In this presentation, we will discuss the effect of PSS-Na as an ETL on the photovoltaic and electroluminescent properties. |
