This study was performed the fire hazard of cypress specimen for the constructional interiors, especially focusing on smoke hazard. Smoke production properties were measured using a cone calorimeter (ISO 5660-2). The external heat flux was maintained at 50 kW/m2. Silicone sol was used as flame retardant. They were synthesized using 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane and sodium silicate. The smoke hazards were measured by varying the concentrations of the two compounds. The concentration of amino silane was adjusted to 0.6, 1.2 and 2.4 times for sodium silicate. The total smoke release was 1540.68 m2/m2, 758.369 m2/m2 and 572.372 m2/m2, respectively. As the concentration increased, the total smoke release rate was 77% less than 2489.5 m2/m2 in the base wood. The total smoke production was 13.6 m2, 6.7 m2 and 5.0 m2, which was 77% less than the 22.0 m2 of the base wood. Slicone flame retardants have been shown to reduce smoke hazards. |
