Enhanced Photocatalytic Oxidation of Acetaldehyde on Surface-Fluorinated TiO2 |

The effects of surface fluorination of TiO2 for the photocatalytic oxidation of acetaldehyde under the ambient conditions were investigated. It is well recognized that F-TiO2 generates more oxidants for faster reaction in aqueous phase. This study showed that F-TiO2 is also effective in gaseous phase, too. The degradation of acetaldehyde in gas phase was successfully achieved by the OH radical produced from the TiO2. It was found that the photocatalytic degradation of the acetaldehyde was faster with F-TiO2 than with the naked TiO2 film. As the TiO2 film was fluorinated in higher concentration of NaF solution, that F-TiO2 shows less adsorbability and higher degradation rate of acetaldehyde. |
