Preparation and thermal properties of DGEBA/ECO/nano-CaCO3 ternary systems |

In this study, epoxy ternary systems were prepared from diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA), epoxidized castor oil (ECO), and nano-CaCO3 with a thermally latent initiator. The weight content of ECO was varied from 5 to 20 wt%, and the weight content of nano-CaCO3 was 1 wt%. The effects of ECO and nano-CaCO3 contents on the thermal properties of DGEBA/ECO/nano-CaCO3 ternary systems were investigated using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The initial decomposing temperature (IDT) and statistic heat-resistant index temperature (Ts) were determined from the TGA curves. As a result, the IDT of the ternary systems decreased with increasing ECO content. The Ts values of the ternary systems were approximately constant up to 30 wt% ECO. |
