Conjugated polymers have attracted tremendous attention because of their suitability in a wide range of promising electronic and optical applications such as OLED, solar cells, and OTFTs. Among the applications, OTFTs can be used in smart cards, e-paper, and integrated circuits in flexible displays. The performance of OTFTs is restricted by the charge carrier mobility of the semiconductors. The carrier mobility depends on the degree of ordering of polymer chains and on the extent of π-π stacking. We synthesized thiophene-based semiconducting copolymer containing thienylenevinylene (TV) units via Yamamoto coupling reaction. Thiophene based polymers show high charge carrier mobility due to their self-ordering properties. TV moieties increase the degree of coplanarity of the conjugated polymer backbones due to the curtailment of steric interactions on successive aromatic rings. In this presentation, we will discuss on the performance of OTFTs fabricated by a new conjugated polymer. |
