Bio-inspired Surface Imobilization of Hyaluronic Acid on Monodisperse Magnetic Nano-crystals for Targeted Cancer Imaging |

We report a simple and biologically compatible reaction of homogeneous and stable immobiliza-tion of hyaluronic acid (HA) on mono-disperse magnetite nanocrystal surface using dopamine as an anchor (HA-MNC). To accomplish surface-specific reaction, we adopted temporary surface charge on magnetite nanocrystal for ionic attraction between naturally negative-charged HA and nanocrystal. Magnetic resonant imaging (MRI) study revealed that HA-MNC exhibited en-hanced intra-cellular uptake into HCT-116 (CD44 over-expressed cell line). |
