In this work, we reported on the synthesis and characterization of TiO2 nanoparticles doped with anions like sulfur, carbon, and nitrogen. Upon doping, the absorption extended well into the visible region. This shift in the absorption edge was accompanied by a concomitant narrowing of band gap. The resulting anion-doped TiO2 nanoparticles were characterized by XRD, XPS, EA, EDAX, TEM, UV-DRS, DC conductivity, AC impedance, and cyclic voltammetric measurements. Electrochemical characterizations were carried out by cyclic voltammetry at pHs 2, 7, and 10. Photoelectrochemical characterizations of the samples for dye-sensitized solar cells were also carried out using AM 1.5 simulated light irradiation. |
