The biodegradable poly(-caprolactone) microcapsules (PCL/TC) containing tocopherol were prepared by emulsion solvent evaporation method. And microcapsules were treated by the oxygen plasma to enhance the hydrophilic of microcapsules. The microcapsule's features, i.e. morphologies, particle size, and thermal properties, could be adjusted by manufacturing condition such as surfactant, stirring rate, and core ratio. The plasma treated microcapsules (P-PCL/TC) were characterized by the surface free energy and work of adhesion through contact angle measurement. As a result, the surface free energy and work of adhesion of P-PCL/TC were increased with increasing the number of times of plasma treatment, which could be attributed to the increased hydrophilic groups during oxygen plasma treatment. The release profile of microcapsules was determined by UV spectra and the P-PCL/TC showed the rapid release rate, as compared with PCL/TC. It was noted that the swelling rate of P-PCL/TC was increased with hydrophilic feature increased by plasma treatment. |
