Light-responsive Release of Liposomes Containing Tween 20- Cinnamic acid Conjugate |

Light-responsive liposomes were prepared by modifying the surface of phospholipid membrane with Tween 20- Cinnamic acid (T20-CA) conjugate. Cinnamic acid (CA) was conjugated to Tween 20 (T20) due to the esterification. The molar ratio of CA residue/T20 residue of the resulting conjugate was calculated to be 1.84/1.02 on 1H NMR spectrum. And the liposomes using egg phosphatidylcholine (egg PC) incorporating T20-CA conjugate were prepared by hydrating egg PC dry film with a buffer solution containing the conjugate. Egg PC/T20-CA conjugate ratios (w/w) in the preparation were from 100:1 to 100:20, and the specific loadings of T20-CA residue in the liposomes were 0.0002 mg/mg to 0.0018 mg/mg. The release from the liposomes prepared using the egg PC/T20-CA conjugate ratios of 100:5 began to markedly increase 40 min after the irradiation of λ= 254 nm and the release degree in 150 min was about 40%. Without the UV irradiation, there was no appreciable release observed. |
