The water-in-oil-in-water (W/O/W) emulsion method has been widely used to stabilize the water-soluble bio-active ingredients. In the W/O/W emulsion, a bio-active material was generally dissolved with aqueous phase, therefore; the contents of loaded material is relatively low. In this work, we introduced a buffering layer in the W/O/W emulsion for efficient loading of bio material. Riboflavin was used as bio-active material. PMMA and PCL were employed as shell materials, and various types of polymer were incorporated as buffering layer. The morphology of the W/O/W capsules was ascertained utilizing an OM and SEM. Existence of buffering layer was confirmed through a CLSM. The contents and anti-oxidizing activities of riboflavin in the W/O/W microcapsules were examined using a HPLC, and DPPH radical scavenging method, respectively. |
